ATLANTA, G.A. --- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced Tuesday, March 25, 2025, that Allen softball's
Elissa Rich has been named SIAC Pitcher of the Week.
Rich tossed two complete games, totaling 12.0 innings pitched, in Allen's Saturday doubleheader sweep over Clark Atlanta. Earning her second and third wins of the season, the sophomore held CAU to a .186 batting average during her time in the circle.
"I want to begin by sharing that I always live by Philippians 4:13 which says 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," said Rich. "I'm incredibly proud of us for making history by winning our first conference series. We couldn't have accomplished this without God's guidance, and the way we worked together as a team by supporting each other to reach our goals."
Rich also struck out a total of 19 batters, including 14 in the second game of the series to match her single-game career-high.
"Elissa has always been a game changer for us," said Allen head coach Kandi Krebs. "She was instrumental in the team's history making performance this weekend by winning Allen's first SIAC series since joining the league. I can't wait to see what we continue to do the rest of the season with their hard work and our belief in God."
Allen will be back in action on Saturday, March 29 in the first game of a three-game series at Savannah State, with a doubleheader scheduled the following day.
