Allen Throws No-Hitter, Scores 26 Runs in Second Game to Split Doubleheader at Voorhees

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DENMARK, S.C. --- Despite falling in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader, 11-1, in six innings at Voorhees, the Allen University softball team responded with a dominating effort in the second game as the Yellow Jackets' pitching staff threw a no-hitter and the Allen offense scored their most runs in a single game this season and won in run-rule fashion, 26-0, in five innings.

GAME ONE:
The Yellow Jackets began the day with Nayomi Pryor reaching on a bunt single, and then stealing second base in the top of the first inning. With a runner in scoring position, Elissa Rich connected on an RBI double to centerfield that scored Pryor, and gave Allen a 1-0 lead. Later in the third, Rich singled on a line drive to left field and registered her fourth multi-hit game of the season.

Also in the circle, Rich recorded five strikeouts in five innings pitched.

GAME TWO:
Again in the second game, Allen's offensive efforts led to early run production. Nayomi Pryor drew a leadoff walk, and Jeramyah Adams was hit by a pitch to put the first two batters on base. Later in the first, with the bases loaded, Destiny Breton singled to left field to score Pryor and put the Yellow Jackets in front, 1-0. In the next at-bat, Yazmyn Pryor drew a bases loaded walk to bring home Adams. Allen then saw Zykhia Crisler and Takiya Thomas both connect on bases loaded singles, and the Yellow Jackets had managed to score four runs before recording their first three outs.

The Yellow Jackets added seven runs to the scoreboard in the top of the second as Kanitria Antenor lifted a sacrifice hit to score one, Breton drove a line drive single to score Rich, Yazmyn Pryor brought in two runs on a hit to centerfield and then scored a run herself on a fielding error by Voorhees, and finally it was Rich who belted a two RBI hit to left field. At the end of the second inning, Allen led 11-0.

The third inning was another seven-run frame for Allen as the Yellow Jackets added to their lead with RBI hits from Thomas, Nayomi Pryor, Rich, Breton, and Crisler. After scoring seven runs on nine hits, Allen led 18-0 after three.

In the fourth, Allen scored their final eight runs of the game as Rich bashed an inside the park two-run home run, Breton drove an RBI single to third base and later scored herself on a passed ball, Yazmyn Pryor brought home a run on an RBI hit to left, Thomas connected on an RBI single to center, and then Zakiyah Henderson smashed a three-run inside the park homer to right field.

The offense was not the only side in complete control as Allen's pitching staff threw a combined no-hitter. Thomas earned the win after three shutout innings with a pair of strikeouts, following by Trinity Brown in relief who struck out a batter in her two innings of work.
