JACKSONVILLE, F.L. --- The Allen University softball team was defeated in each game of a three-game series at Edward Waters. In a doubleheader Friday, Allen lost game one, 10-2, in five innings, and game two, 11-10. As the series concluded Saturday, Allen fell, 13-2, in five innings.
GAME ONE:Â
The Yellow Jackets plated their two runs for the game in the fifth inning.
Yazmyn Pryor and
Zykhia Crisler led off the inning by each drawing a walk. With two runners on,
Chelsea Booker delivered a sacrifice bunt towards third base that allowed by
Yazmyn Pryor and Crisler to advance into scoring position. Then,
Nayomi Pryor picked up a pair of RBIs as both
Yazmyn Pryor and Crisler scored on Pryor's ground ball to third base.
Nayomi Pryor also added a stolen base to her efforts.Â
In the circle,
Trinity Brown and
Chelsea Booker each struck out one batter.Â
GAME TWO:Â
Allen's offense found its rhythm in the second game of Friday's doubleheader with a 10-run performance. The first run for the Yellow Jackets scored in the first inning as
Nayomi Pryor came home on a wild pitch. Then in the second inning,
Tylar Crawford and
Zakiyah Henderson each began the frame with singles. Allen then utilized a double-steal to take a 2-1 lead over the Tigers. Three additional runs scored in the inning thanks to a sacrifice bunt from
Nayomi Pryor and two fielding errors by Edward Waters. At the end of the second inning, Allen led 5-1.
After adding a run in the fifth, Allen plated two more in the sixth as
Nayomi Pryor stole home and
Jeramyah Adams scored on a wild pitch. In the final frame,
Elissa Rich grounded into a bases-loaded fielder's choice that allowed Crawford to score, and later Adams drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Allen's tenth and final run of the contest.Â
Crawford led the way for the Yellow Jackets with a three-hit performance.Â
GAME THREE:Â
The Yellow Jackets' scoring efforts began in the second inning as
Trinity Brown scored on a fielding error. Later in the fourth,
Kasiyah Byrd picked up an RBI on a groundout that scored
Elissa Rich.Â
UP NEXT:Â
Allen will conclude the 2026 season with their final home series against Benedict. The series is scheduled to begin with a single game on Friday, April 17 at 5:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Saturday that is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. All three games will be played at MLK Park.
