COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Allen University softball team closed out their 2026 regular season on a winning note by defeating Benedict, 13-8, in the final game of a three-game series. In the first two games of the series, Allen fell, 20-6, in five innings, and 20-7, in five innings.
GAME ONE:
Nayomi Pryor led off the first frame with a walk and a pair of steals, and then came home to score on a groundout from
Yazmyn Pryor. Later in the second inning, a second Yellow Jacket run scored as
Kanitria Antenor was brought in by a Benedict fielding error. The big frame for Allen was the third as the Yellow Jackets added four runs to their total.
Elissa Rich drove an RBI single to left,
Tylar Crawford smashed an RBI double to centerfield,
Destiny Breton connected on an RBI groundout, and
Raevyn Thomas lifted an RBI single to right.
Antenor finished with a team-high two hits against the Tigers. In the circle, Rich struck out five batters in five innings pitched.
GAME TWO:
The first inning was again a successful one for Allen offensively against BC as the Yellow Jackets plated a pair of runs in the first frame. Rich singled to bring in both runs. Then in the second, a bases-loaded walk, bases-loaded hit by pitch, and bases-loaded wild pitch added three runs to Allen's tally. Later in the third frame, Zy'Khia Crisler brought in Antenor on an RBI groundout. Finally in the fifth, Breton homered to centerfield.
Trinity Brown struck out three batters across 3.1 innings pitched.
GAME THREE:
To conclude the series, and regular season, Allen struck first on a
Nayomi Pryor steal of home in the first inning. Later in the third,
Jeramyah Adams doubled to right field to score a run and
Yazmyn Pryor drove an RBI single to right as Allen managed to plate five runs in the inning. Then in the fifth, Crawford hit an RBI single to right field, Crisler crushed an RBI double to centerfield, Adams connected on an RBI single to left, and Breton lifted a sacrifice fly to right as the Yellow Jackets took a 10-6 lead after five. Allen brought in three additional runs in the sixth thanks to a sacrifice fly from Crawford, an RBI triple from
Zakiyah Henderson, and an RBI single from Crisler.
In the victory,
Nayomi Pryor recorded four hits, along with Rich tallying three, and Adams, Henderson, and Crisler all with two hits each. Across the first three innings,
Chelsea Booker struck out two Tigers, followed by Rich striking out five over the final four frames.
