Box Score 3 SAVANNAH, GA - The Allen University softball fell 9-1 in five innings on the road in game one of their series with Savannah State on Saturday afternoon.
Game two saw the Lady Tigers roll past the Yellow Jackets 13-0 in 5 innings to complete the doubleheader sweep.Â
In game one, sophomore pitcher
Rachel Rolle was saddled with the loss throwing four and 1/3Â innings allowing 9 runs (only 4 earned) on 10 hits while walking five and striking out two in just her third start of the season. savannah led just 5-1 after four innings but put the game out of reach with a four-run 5th to clinch the win.
Offensively, Allen was led by a double from senior 3BÂ
Daeshonna Beckham-Timmons and an RBI single for junior 1B
Jasmine Blaxton who drove in Timmons in the 4th for the Jacket's lone run. Also knocking singles were middle infielders, senior SSÂ
Chyna Davis and senior 2B
Breighana Spencer as well as outfieldersÂ
Meosha McKnight and senior CF
Morgan Moon.Â
In game two, SSU scored three runs in the first inning and two in the second off game two starter Beckham Timmons. After a scoreless third inning by DBT, SSU finally got to her for 8 runs in the 4th inning to put the game out of reach. In the first few innings, runs were scored via two ground-outs, an error, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly as the Tigers could not hit the AU senior.
However, tin the 4th, SSU got their runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. Beckham-Timmons threw 4 innings allowing 12 earned runs on 11 hits with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. Offensively, Allen received hits from Davis and freshman catcher
Marcell Hernandez while Spencer stole two bases as she reached base twice by HBP and an SSU error.
In the finale of the series on Sunday, Savannah State completed the sweep defeating Allen 10-1 in 5 innings.
SSU scored 5 runs in the first inning off Game 3 starter
Rachel Rolle (0-2) taking advantage of her control struggles to score 5 runs without a hit as they crossed the plate on 3 wild pitches and two bases-loaded walks. Beckham-Timmons then came on to replace Rolle in the first and finished out the game throwing 3 and 2/3 innings allowing only 4 earned runs on 8 hits while walking three and striking out one. Rolle allowed just one hit but walked four and gave up 5 runs.
SSU led 6-0 after two innings before Allen got on the board in the 3rd on a Beckham-Timmons RBI single driving in Spencer who had doubled. Allen totaled 4 hits in the game led by Spencer's double while infielders Blaxton and Davis also knocked singles. Spencer reached base twice via a walk and double while also stealing a base.
SSU improves to 3-2 on the year and 3-0 in the SIAC while Allen falls to 0-15 and 0-3Â in the team's SIAC opener.
