CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Allen University men's track and field team deliver a strong showing Friday at the JCSU Invitational, a single-day event hosted by Johnson C. Smith University, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes and a national qualifying mark in the field events.
Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets was Sytrevion Dyer, who captured the men's long jump title with a leap of 7.37 meters. The mark not only secured first place but also surpassed the NCAA Division II provisional standard (7.34m), positioning Dyer among the top contenders in the region and ranking him among the top-20 marks in NCAA Division II this season.
Allen continued its dominance in the field as Kyle Levester claimed first place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.97 meters. Teammate Jamarri Norman added to the event's success with a third-place finish at 1.92 meters.
In the throws, Jhyrique Mangum secured another victory for the Yellow Jackets, winning the shot put with a mark of 15.38 meters. Santana Wright also delivered an impressive performance, taking first place in the discus with a throw of 44.28 meters while adding a seventh-place finish in the shot put (12.25m).
On the track, Jaheim Speller turned in a pair of top finishes, placing third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.78 seconds and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.79). Speller also contributed in the field, finishing third in the long jump (6.49m).
Additional field event performances included Qu'Darius Foster, who placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.65 meters, while Dyer added a sixth-place finish in the triple jump (14.09m) to round out his day.
As the program continues to build momentum heading deeper into the outdoor campaign, the Yellow Jackets will look to carry that success into their next competition on Friday, April 10 at the FMU Invitational, a single-day event hosted by Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina.
