Dyer Earns SIAC Male Field Athlete of the Week Honor

ATLANTA, G.A. ---  The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced Tuesday that Allen University's Sytrevion Dyer has been voted as the SIAC Male Field Athlete of the Week. This is Dyer's first weekly honor of the season.

Dyer, a sophomore from Lakeland, Florida, won his second straight outdoor event of the season Friday after taking the top spot in the long jump at the JCSU Invitational in Charlotte, North Carolina. With a distance of 7.37m, not only did Dyer finish ahead of a field of NCAA Division II competitors, but he also set a new outdoor career-best for himself. His distance is also the 18th best mark in NCAA Division II this season.

In addition to his efforts in the long jump, Mangum also finished fifth in the triple jump.

In Dyer's first season at Allen, the sophomore has improved on his long jump performance in each of the three outdoor events he has competed in. At the Savannah State Eyeopener on March 7, Dyer logged a distance of 6.82m, followed by a mark of 6.97m at the John-Hunter James Classic on March 20.

"I'm very proud of the way Sytrevion has worked to improve on his long jump from each event to the next," said Allen Head Track and Field Coach Brandon Lowery. "He is putting in the time and effort it takes to earn an achievement like this, and I look forward to him building off of his latest mark."

Dyer and the Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday, April 10 at the FMU Invitational, a single-day event hosted by Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina.
