FLORENCE, S.C. --- The Allen University men's track and field team delivered a strong all-around performance at the FMU Invitational on April 10, highlighted by multiple event victories and a collection of podium finishes across sprints, jumps, and throws. This single-day event was hosted by Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina.
Leading the way on the track, Jabari Moss captured a first-place finish in the men's 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 58.14. In the sprints, Nasiah Rhodes turned in a pair of solid performances, earning a runner-up finish in the 100 meters with a time of 10.96 while also placing sixth in the 200 meters at 22.06.
In the field events, the Yellow Jacket jumpers and throwers made a major impact. Jamarri Norman paced the squad with two event victories, soaring to first place in the high jump with a mark of 2.03 meters and claiming the long jump title with a leap of 7.07 meters. His performances also positioned him among fourth among SIAC competitions, and 22nd across all HBCUs, regardless of division.
The high jump group added valuable depth, as Kyle Levester secured second place with a clearance of 1.98 meters, which ranks him fifth in the SIAC this outdoor season.
The long jump proved to be another strong event for the squad, with Jahiem Speller finishing second at 7.02 meters and Sytrevion Dyer taking third with a mark of 6.88 meters. Dyer's performance currently places him atop the SIAC standings while also ranking ninth among HBCU competitors, and 21st across all of NCAA Division II. Speller and Dyer also competed in the triple jump, placing fourth (13.54m) and eighth (12.60m), respectively.
In the throwing events, Santana Wright led the charge with a first-place finish in the discus, recording a throw of 45.30 meters, which is fourth-best in the SIAC this season. Jhyrique Mangum also contributed across multiple events, finishing second in the shot put (14.21m) and third in both the hammer throw (46.18m) and discus (40.10m). Mangum's marks are both the second-highest among SIAC competitors this season.
Allen's next competition will be the SIAC Outdoor Championships from April 21-23. This three-day event will be hosted by the University of South Carolina, with competition taking place at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track at 1320 Heyward Street, Columbia, SC, 29208.
