ATLANTA, G.A. --- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced Tuesday that Allen University's
Jamarri Norman has been voted as the SIAC Male Field Athlete of the Week. This is Norman's first weekly honor of the season, and the first of his career.
Norman, a sophomore from Calhoun Falls, South Carolina, had a day filled with first-place finishes at the FMU Invitational last Friday. Norman took the top spot in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.03m, which ranks fourth-best in the SIAC this season, and 13th among HBCUs, regardless of division. Then in the long jump, Norman leapt a distance of 7.07m to win the event and record the second best mark in the SIAC in 2026. Finally, Norman clocked a time of 16.44 in the 110 hurdles to win his third event of the day and record the ninth win of his young career. The single-day event was hosted by Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina.
"Jamarri continues to set the standard for our program," said Allen Head Track and Field Coach Brandon Lowery. "He is one of the hardest working student-athletes in the program. He shows up everyday with determination and a commitment to getting better."
Norman and the Yellow Jackets return to action on April 21-23 at the SIAC Outdoor Championships. The event will be hosted by the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.
