ANDERSON, S.C. - The Allen University men's track and field team competed in their final regular season meet of the year this past weekend at the two-day Electric City Invitational hosted by Div. II Anderson University (SC).
Allen only competed in the field events during Friday's action due to the majority of the team playing in Allen's Spring Football Game the following day.
Leading the way in the
Hammer throw was freshman
Jhyrique Mangum with an impressive 15th place finish and a mark of 35.8 meters (117 feet) while also winning his flight. Junior
Sheldon Brown then came next in 20th place with a throw of 33.9 meters while senior
Isaiah Milhouse was 24th at 30.2 meters (99 ft). Junior
DeAngelo Bright also placed 27th with a throw of 29.4 meters while sophomore
Preston Conner was 29th at 20 meters (65 ft). Also competing were juniors
Jahmaryz Davis and
Edmond Whitaker who finished 30th and 31st. Davis threw a mark of 19.9 meters while Whitaker was at 11.6 meters.
Then in the Javelin Throw, freshman
Cecilius Bailey led the charge placing 9th overall out of 34 with a quality mark of 41.9 meters (137 ft). Brown then came in right behind him in 13th place with a throw of 40.2 meters. Whitaker also competed in the Javelin and placed 23rd with a mark of 30.2 meters (99 ft) while junior
Montrell White was 27th at 27.6 meters. Senior
Reggie Jones Jr. then followed in 28th throwing 22.6 meters while
Daquan Brock was 29th at 16 meters.
The men will now prepare for the SIAC Conference championship meet in Atlanta, GA from April 27-29 at Morehouse College.
