WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Allen University Men's track and field team competed at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Wilmington.
Freshman
Zalyn Myers led the way for the Allen sprinters as he placed 6th overall in a time of 11 seconds flat in the 100 meter dash to earn 3 team points. Junior
Montrell White also competed in the 100 and placed 12th out of 40 in a time of 11.1 seconds while sophomore Joshua Burley came in 18th in 11.29 seconds. Freshman
Rolik Jackson also ran the 100 and placed 23rd in 11.4 seconds.
In the 400 meters, Allen was led by senior
Daquan Brock who placed 15th in a time of 54.46 seconds. Brock then competed in the 800 meters as well where he also placed 15th out of 25 in a time of 2:16 while finishing second in his section.
Senior
Reggie Jones, Jr. then placed 3rd overall in the 400 meter Hurdles in a time of 57.6 seconds, which was the best D-2 time of the day. Freshman
Jabari Moss then followed Jones in 6th place in a time of 1 minute. The duo combined for 12 team points in the event.
In the field events, Allen was led by White placing 5th overall with a mark of 6.5 meters (21 feet) while Myers finished 15th at 6.1 meters. Burley also competed and had a mark of 5.75 meters to place 19th.
In the Shot Put, freshman
Jhyrique Mangum led Allen with an 8th place finish and a throw of 13.26 meters (43 feet) while junior
Sheldon Brown came in right behind in 9th at 12.5 meters. Senior
Isaiah Milhouse then came in 11th at 11.9 meters while sophomore
Preston Conner was 14th at 11.38 meters.
Mangum also led Allen itn he Discus placing 8th at 40 .2 meters while Brown was right behind him in 12th at nearly 37 meters.
The track teams will next compete at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Friday and Saturday at 10 AM at the Myrtle Beach High School campus.
