FLORENCE, S.C. --- The Allen University women's track and field team delivered an impressive outing at the FMU Invitational on April 10, highlighted by multiple event victories and strong conference-ranking performances.
Diosleydis Gutierrez led the charge for the Yellow Jackets, capturing first place in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:20.54. Only a freshman, Gutierrez's performance currently ranks fourth in the SIAC, positioning her among the conference's top middle-distance runners. Jamea Lindley also had a strong showing in the same event, finishing second with a time of 2:24.54, which ranks fifth in the SIAC standings.
Caseyona Hight secured another victory for Allen, winning the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.54, continuing the team's success in hurdle events this season. Taylor Jordan also delivered a standout sprint performance, placing second in the women's 200 meters with a time of 25.01, ranking seventh-best among SIAC competitors this season.
In the field events, Kiara Moss led the way with a first-place finish in the shot put, recording a mark of 12.00 meters. Her performance ranks third in the SIAC, and is the third time in four outdoor meets this season that Moss has won the event. Moss also contributed in the hammer throw, placing fifth with a mark of 37.93 meters to round out a productive day.
The Yellow Jackets will return to competition April 21-23 at the SIAC Outdoor Championships. This three-day event will be hosted by the University of South Carolina, with competition taking place at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track at 1320 Heyward Street, Columbia, SC, 29208.
