ORANGEBURG, S.C. --- The Allen University women's track and field team saw four Yellow Jackets place inside the top 5 Saturday at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic, an event hosted by South Carolina State University.
Measha Jones won the long jump event with a distance of 5.55m. The two-time SIAC champion secured the top spot ahead of a field of NCAA Division I and II competitors. Her victory Saturday marks the sixth overall win this season for the senior, and the fourth time she has won in the long jump. Jones also showcased her skills on the track with a fourth place finish in the 400m.
Deborah Boyd recorded the highest finish of her career after securing second place in the 5000m with a time of 23:44.62. Her performance Saturday is the second fastest time Boyd has ever ran in the event, behind only her showing at the 2024 SIAC Outdoor Championships.
Finally in the 100m preliminaries,
Keturah Walker clocked a time of 12.45 to place fourth. Later in the finals, Walker finished in seventh place.
Allen will conclude their 2025 season at the SIAC Outdoor Championships from April 23-25. The three-day event will be hosted on the campus of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
