COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Two weeks removed from placing first in the long jump at the SIAC Indoor Championships,
Measha Jones took the top spot in the event once again as the Allen University women's track and field team opened their 2025 outdoor season at the John-Hunter James Classic in Columbia, South Carolina. The two-day event was hosted on the campus of Columbia International University from March 7-8.
Jones, a Manning, South Carolina native, recorded a distance of 5.58m in the long jump to secure her third first place finish of the season. In addition to Jones' top finish, two other Yellow Jackets recorded second place finishes in their respective events.
Keturah Walker clocked a time of 26.21 in the 200m, and
Caseyona Hight ran the 400m in a time of 1:09.80.
In the field events,
Savannah Welborn-Zellars finished inside the top 10 in both the shot put and discus events. Also, Jones placed ninth in her first javelin event of her senior campaign.
Allen will be back in action on Friday, March 14 at the Phoenix Invitational in Elon, North Carolina. The event will be hosted by Elon University.
