COLUMBIA, SC --- The Allen University Women's Track and Field team kicked off their spring indoor season Saturday in the "Gamecock Opener" event held at nearby University of South Carolina among 22 NCAA teams. 

In the Women's 600 Meter Run, junior sprinter Ayani Taylor placed 16th overall and 3rd within NCAA Division II participants with a time of 2:04.49. 

The Yellow Jackets also saw a pair of top-20 freshman finishers in the Women's Triple Jump as Ty'kira Garrett and Maya Jackson finished 13th and 17th, respectivley, as Garrett notched a distance of 10.73m while Jackson leapt for 10.12m. 

Freshman Savannah Welbourne-Zellars threw for 10.87m in the Women's Shot Put to finish 18th overall and 3rd within NCAA Division II participants.
