CENTRAL, S.C. - The Allen University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the D-2 Southern Wesleyan "Gotta Run Invitational" over the weekend in Central, SC in the non-team scored event.
Junior sprinter
Shakeryah Passmore got things started for the Yellow Jackets by placing 14th overall out of 40 in the 100 meter dash finishing in 12.5 seconds while sophomore
Aisha Patterson came in 18th in the 100 meters in 12.6 seconds.
In the 200 meters, freshman
Measha Jones came in 6th overall out of 38 sprinters in a time of 25.6 seconds while Passmore finished 18th in 26.8 seconds. In the 400 meters, Allen was led by freshman
Kiana Pack placing 15th out of 22 in 1:06.
In the 100 meter Hurdles, junior
Teleah Moorer led the Jackets placing third out of 18 finishing in 15 seconds while she then placed 7th out of 17 in the 400 Meter Hurdles coming in a time of 1:12. Sophomore
Ayani Taylor then finished 15th in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 1:21.
The Lady Jackets 4x100 meter relay team (consisting of Patterson, Moorer, Passmore, and Jones) then placed 5th out of 8 (4th among D-2) finishing in a time of 49 seconds flat just 1.1 seconds behind runner-up Emory while SWU won the relay in 46.7 seconds. Then, in the 4x400 meter relay the Yellowjackets, (consisting of Patterson, Pack, Taylor, and Jones) placed 3rd overall out of six schools with a time of 4:32 finishing as the second-best D-2 school.
Then in the field events, Allen was led by sophomore
Kourtney English in the High Jump placing 13th out of 20 with a mark of 1.4 meters (4.5 ft) while Jones led the way in the Long Jump placing 8th overall with a mark of 4.99 meters (16.5 ft), just one meter behind the winner of SWU.
In the Shot Put, Allen was led by junior
Jermisha Moss who placed 7th out of 18 with a mark of 9.38 meters (30.9 ft) while sophomore
LaRhonda Johnson was 14th with a mark of 8 meters (26 ft). Johnson then placed 22nd in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 22.5 meters (73 ft.). Finally, in the Javelin,
Ayani Taylor led Allen placing 22nd as well with a mark of 14.7 meters (48.5 ft).
The Lady Jackets will next be competing on Saturday at 9AM at the USC Gamecock Outdoor Invitational.
