Teleah Moorer in the Hurdles
ATLANTA, Ga. - Allen University freshman Measha Jones led the Allen women in the Long Jump on Thursday on Day One of the SIAC Track & Field Conference Championships in Atlanta from Morehouse College.
The women finished in 11th place out of 14 schools with 13 points at the Championships. This is the first time Allen track and field has competed at the Div. II SIACs and with zero seniors on the team, Allen had a terrific showing in their first postseason meet and will look to improve upon that next season.

Jones placed 5th overall in the Long Jump Thursday with a mark of 5.17 meters (nearly 17 ft) to earn 4 team points for the Jackets. Also competing was freshman Mikiya Sherman who placed 24th with a jump of 4.4 meters (14.5 ft).

Then, in the 400 meter hurdle prelims on Thursday, Allen was led by junior sprinter Teleah Moorer who came in 5th place with a season-best time of 1:09.5 to qualify for the finals while sophomore Ayani Taylor also ran and came in 18th place with a time of 1:21. Moorer then placed 8th in the 400 Hurdle finals running a time of 1:13 to earn one team point.
Moorer then qualified for the finals in 6th place in the 100 meter hurdles running a time of 14.9 seconds. She then ran against a heavy wind in the hurdle finals coming in 6th place at a time of 15.3 seconds to earn 3 team points.

Jones also came in 15th place of the 400 meters on Friday with a personal-best time of 1 minute flat but, unfortunately, did not qualify for the finals. Freshmen teammates Kiana Pack and Jasmine Mayes also ran times of 1:08 and 1:10 respectively in the 400 but did not qualify for the finals. Mayes' time was her college-best.
Jones, though, then came in 14th place (4th in her heat) in the prelims of the 200 meters running a time of 26.6 seconds while sophomore Aisha Patterson, pictured below, finished 18th after running a time of 27.1 seconds. Junior sprinter Shakeryah Passmore also competed and ran a time of 27.5 seconds to come in 23rd. Unfortunately, the trio did not qualify for the 200 meter finals.

Passmore then finished in 10th place in the 100 meter prelims on Friday falling just two spots and .4 seconds behind qualifying for the top 8 finals. Her time was 12.64 seconds and would have been the 5th best time in the finals. Patterson also competed in the 100 meters and placed 14th overall out of 28 sprinters with a time of 12.75 seconds.
In the women's 4x100 meter relay, the Allen ladies ran a time of 48.8 seconds on Friday to place 5th out of 13 schools and qualify for the Finals. Then, in the finals on Saturday the women came back and finished in 6th place beating their qualifying time by .6 seconds to run a time of 48.2 and earn three team points. The relay team consisted of Patterson, Moorer, Passmore, and Jones.

On day three in the Javelin Throw, junior Kayla Chambliss led Allen by placing 7th overall with a season-best throw of 27.8 meters (91 ft) to earn two team points for the Lady Yellow Jackets. Also competing for Allen was sophomore Ayani Taylor who placed 23rd out of 35 with a mark of 19.8 meters (65 ft).

Then in the Shot Put on Thursday, Allen had three ladies competing, but did not crack the top 20 unfortunately in the finals. Leading Allen was junior Jermisha Moss with a throw of 8.5 meters (27 feet) to finish 26th while freshman Kaiyah Robinson was right behind in 27th at 8.15 meters.  Junior LaRhonda Johnson also competed with a throw of 7.5 meters to place 30th.

In the Hammer throw on Friday, Allen was led by Robinson placing 13th with a mark of 29.9 meters (98 ft) while Johnson then placed 19th with a throw of 21.4 meters.
Robinson then led Allen again in the Discus Throw on Friday as well finishing in 10th place out of 30 with a throw of 30.6 meters while Moss finished 19th with a mark of 25 meters (82 ft).
