ANDERSON, S.C. - The Allen University women's track and field team competed in their final regular season meet of the year last weekend at the two-day Electric City Invitational hosted by Div. II Anderson University.
The Lady Yellow Jacket women finished 23rd overall in the meet led by their relay teams and field teams. Allen's
4x100 meter relay team, consisting of Aisha Patterson, Teleah Moorer, Shakeryah Passmore, and Measha Jones, placed in a tie for 5th overall with Coker College out of 13 teams with an impressive time of 48.4 seconds for the three team points. The team was only 1.4 seconds off the top time of 47 seconds by Catawba.
Allen's other relay team also competed and came in 12th, but finished 4th in their "small school" section with a time of 54.2 seconds and it consisted of
Kiana Pack,
Mikiya Sherman,
Kourtney English, and
Jasmine Mayes.
In the field events, Sherman, Passmore, English, Pack and
Reyonce Black all competed in the Triple Jump but, unfortunately, did not qualify for the final round.
Freshman
Kaiyah Robinson then led the way in the
Discus Throw finishing in an impressive 15th place out of over 60 competitors with a mark of 29.9 meters (98 feet). Robinson also came in third in her flight as well.
Junior
Jermisha Moss then came next for Allen in the Discus placing 25th with a mark of 28.4 meters (93 ft) while sophomore
Kourtney English came in 47th at 16.8 meters (55 ft) to win her flight as well. Freshman
Measha Jones also competed in the
Discus placing 48th at 15.7 meters (51 ft) as she tied with teammates, sophomore
Ayani Taylor and freshman Jada Garbutt. Junior
Kayla Chambliss then placed 51st in the Discus with a mark of 15.6 meters while freshman Aliyah Bradley threw it 15 meters and sophomore
LaRhonda Johnson landed it 14.9 meters. Moorer then threw the Discus 12.7 meters (41 ft) to place 54th while Mayes and Passmore each tossed it 11.6 meters.Â
In the
Hammer throw, Robinson again led the Lady Jackets finishing 22nd with a mark of 26 meters (85 feet). Johnson also placed 31st with a throw of 19.1 meters (62 ft) while Moss came in right behind her in 32nd with a mark of 9.1 meters.
Chambliss then competed in the Javelin and finished 15th overall out of 40 with a throw of 24 meters (79 ft) while Jones finished right behind in 19th with a mark of 20.6 meters (67 ft). Mayes and Bradley also competed and finihed 30th and 31st with marks of 13.1 meters and 11.4 meters respectively.
The women will now prepare for the SIAC Conference championship meet in Atlanta, GA from April 27-29 at Morehouse College.
