WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Allen University women's track and field team competed at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Wilmington.
Freshman
Measha Jones and sophomore
Aisha Patterson led the Lady Sprinters on Saturday in the 100 meter dash placing 11th and 12th respectively with times of 12.9 seconds. Sophomore
Shakeryah Passmore then finished right behind the Allen duo in 14th place in a time of 13.1 seconds while freshman
Jasmine Mayes came in 20th also in 13.8 seconds.
Junior
Teleah Moorer then led Allen by finishing 4th out of 12 in the 100 meter Hurdles in 15.36 seconds, the second best time among D-2 sprinters. Sophomore
Ayani Taylor then placed 7th in the 400 meter Hurdles in a time of 1:20 as well.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Patterson, Mayes, Jones and
Kiana Pack then placed 5th.
In the field events, the Jackets were led by sophomore
Kourtney English in the High Jump as she placed 10th with a mark of 1.45 meters (4.9 feet). Jones then finished in a impressive 5th out of 21 in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.2 meters (over 17 feet) while English also competed and placed 14th with a mark of 4.3 meters (14 feet).
Finally, freshman
Kaiyah Robinson then competed in the Shot Put on Friday placing 18th out of 30 with a mark of 8.7 meters (28.5 feet) while she then placed 13th in the Discus Throw with a mark of 29.6 meters (97 feet).
The track teams will next compete at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Friday and Saturday at 10 AM at the Myrtle Beach High School campus.
