COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University Women's track and field team competed at the Div. I USC Indoor Open in Columbia on February 17 to complete their indoor season. Other SIAC teams competing include Benedict, Savannah St. and Edward Waters as well as CIAA foes Claflin, Fayetteville St., Lincoln and Saint Augustine's.
Leading the Allen Ladies in the sprints was sophomore
Aisha Patterson placing 31st out of 50 in the 60 meters in a time of 8.15 seconds while sophomore teammate
Shakeryah Passmore was right behind Patterson in 8.16 seconds.
Patterson then finished 35th in the 200 Meters in 26.8 seconds, which was the 2nd best SIAC team of the race. Freshman sprinter
Jasmine Mayes then finished 45th in 28 seconds while Passmore came in behind her in 46th in 28.1 seconds.
In the 400 meters, Allen was led by freshman
Kiana Pack running a time of 1:07 to place 33rd while sophomore
Ayani Taylor then came in 38th in 1:10.5. Mayes also competed a ran a time of 1:11 to come in 39th.
Sophomore Taleah Moorer then competed in the 60 meter Hurdles placing 20th in a time of 9.47 seconds, running the 6th-best time in the conference.
In the field events, sophomore
Kourtney English led Allen by placing 7th in the High Jump with a mark of 1.45 meters (5 feet) while freshman
Measha Jones then came in 10th with a mark of 1.4 meters.
Freshman
Reyonce Black then placed 23rd in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.66 meters (15.5 feet). In the Shot Put, AU's sophomore
Jermisha Moss then placed 21st with a mark of 8.7 meters (over 28 feet) while freshman
Kaiyah Robinson placed 26th with a mark of 8.39 meters while Robinson was also 27th in the Weight throw at 8.28 meters (27 feet).
The Lady Yellow Jackets will next head to Wilmington on March 3-4 for the start of the outdoor season at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational at 10 AM as their previous meet at Southern Wesleyan was canceled.
