ATLANTA, Ga. – Freshman outside hitter Maliyah Spencer was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while fellow freshman libero Jayla Neely earned Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
  
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Maliyah Spencer, Allen
Outside Hitter | Freshman | Surprise, AZ
Spencer led Allen offensively on the week with consecutive games of 20 kills each totaling 41 kills in the two matches while hitting over .260. She also totaled four blocks and contributed 44 points on the week as the Yellow Jackets wen 2-1 over the last three games to improve to 11-10 on the season. Spencer now has 212 kills on the season to lead the team and is averaging three kills/set. She is also hitting at a .230 clip along with 14 aces.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jayla Neely, Allen
Libero | Freshman | Rock Hill, S.C.
Allen's freshman libero led the team defensively on the week, compiling back-to-back games of 20+ digs as she finished with 43 digs, three kills, and six aces on the week. Neely now has 276 digs on the season to lead the team while averaging nearly four digs per set.

The Lady Yellow Jackets will next return to action on Thursday night on the road at Johnson & Wales University.
