Albany, GA — The Lady Yellow Jackets walked into Day 1 of the SIAC East Crossover with purpose — and left the gym with two decisive wins and a statement that the buzz around Allen Volleyball is very real.
Match One: Allen vs. Lane College (3-1)
The opener saw Allen face a scrappy Lane College squad. After dropping the third set, the Lady Jackets regrouped and handled business in four (25-21, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19), led by the steady hands and high-level execution of Senior Outside Hitter Maliyah Spencer, who posted 10 kills and 2 blocks in the win.
Saige Bradley continued her breakout performance streak, delivering a team-high 4 blocks, 6 digs, and 2 aces — making her presence felt at the net and beyond.
At the setter position, Allen showcased dynamic playmaking as Zyara Harrision commanded the floor with 20 assists and 2 aces, while Freshman Tamia Hiorton added 17 assists and 6 digs, showing poise and chemistry well beyond her class.
Match Two: Allen vs. LeMoyne-Owen (3-0)
If the first game was a gritty win, the second was a clinic in control.
Allen wasted no time sweeping LeMoyne-Owen in straight sets (25-22, 25-22, 25-18), behind an aggressive serve game and defensive pressure that suffocated the Magicians.
Junior Defensive Specialist JaNiya Lamar turned defense into offense with 18 digs, 6 aces, and 4 assists, anchoring Allen's floor defense and keeping momentum in their favor all night.
Tahmiah Lawson led with 8 kills, while Bradley once again stuffed the stat sheet with 2 blocks and 2 aces. In a match where LeMoyne-Owen committed 22 costly errors, Allen's composure and discipline sealed the sweep.
