Haynesworth Named Allen Head Women's Soccer Coach

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Charles "Chuck" Haynesworth has been named the new head women's soccer coach at Allen University, as announced by Director of Athletics Phillip Wallace Jr. Monday. He becomes the second head coach in the program's NCAA history.

Haynesworth, a South Carolina native, arrives at Allen following a coaching career that has spanned 20 years in the Palmetto State. Most recently, Haynesworth has served as the head men's soccer coach of the Benedict College Soccer Club team since 2023. He held the same position from 2015-2016. Prior to his time at BC, Haynesworth had a previous stop at the collegiate level as the goalkeepers coach for both the men's and women's soccer teams at the University of South Carolina Sumter from 2008-2009, and again in 2017. Haynesworth holds a USSF Coaching D License.

"I'm excited to welcome Coach Haynesworth to Allen University as the new leader of our women's soccer program," Wallace said. "He brings a great deal of experience in developing high-quality soccer players with him, and he knows what it will take to bring our program to a championship level."

"I congratulate AD Wallace on his search and ultimate selection of Coach Haynesworth as the next women's soccer coach at Allen University," President Dr. Ernest McNealey said. "We look forward to an exciting and competitive season in the year ahead."

In addition to his time at the collegiate club level, Haynesworth spent time as an assistant coach at three South Carolina high schools. From 2005-2006, he served at Sumter High School as a goalkeeper coach and oversaw the junior varsity program. Then in 2014 and 2016, Haynesworth was an assistant varsity coach at Lower Richland High School. In 2017, he was the goalkeeper coach at Calhoun County High School.

"I'm very excited to be named the new head coach at Allen University," said Haynesworth. "I am honored to earn my first opportunity as a collegiate head coach, and I believe we can achieve success here. We know that building this program will come together piece by piece."

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, and raised in Sumter, South Carolina, Haynesworth graduated from Benedict College in 2004 with his bachelor's degree in criminal justice. As an undergraduate student, Haynesworth played football from 2000-2001 before joining the club soccer team for four seasons where he was team MVP each season. Following his graduation, Haynesworth continued to pursue higher education and later graduated from Webster University in 2008 with his master's degree in mental health counseling. Haynesworth is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
