COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Allen University women's wrestling team closed out their 2024-2025 regular season Saturday by defeating a pair of opponents in Emory & Henry, 25-19, and Newberry, 30-10. In just their second season as a program, the Yellow Jackets finish with an (8-4) overall record, and one of only four Conference Carolinas teams to post a winning record. 

In the first of the two duals against Emory & Henry, Allen won four of the first five matches. In the 138-weight class, Tykala Pruitt secured a pinfall in just 40 seconds to give Allen a 20-5 lead. However, after Emory and Henry won the next three matches, the dual came down to the final bout in the 207-weight class. As both teams stood within reach of the victory, Allen's Janya Rolland lifted the Yellow Jackets to the win with a pinfall in 4:38. Rolland's win is the thirteenth of her freshman season.

Following a 10-minute intermission period, the Yellow Jackets then squared-off against in-state Conference Carolinas foe Newberry College. The Yellow Jackets held a 5-0 lead in the dual entering the 117-weight class, then Stacy Pule doubled that advantage to 10-0 with a pinfall win in two minutes. Just as she did against Emory & Henry, Pruitt pinned her opponent in the 131-weight class in 1:50. Allen closed out the dual by winning the final four matches, including victories from JahMya Hill, Cathia Timas, Morgan Thomas, and Janya Rolland.

Allen will begin their individual postseason tournament at the NCAA Super Regionals on Saturday, February 22. The event will be hosted on the campus of Emmanual University in Franklin Springs, Georgia.
