Columbia, SC - The 2025-26 campaign for Allen University Women's Wrestling is officially underway as the Lady Yellow Jackets gear up for a heavyweight opening weekend, squaring off against top-tier national competition at the Upstate Women's Clinic Duals in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Allen will face off against the likes of Newberry College and #5-ranked Presbyterian College in what promises to be an early litmus test for one of the most exciting and motivated squads in the Conference Carolinas.
Spotlight on the Leaders
The Yellow Jackets enter the season with three standouts receiving Preseason Watchlist honors from Conference Carolinas: Sophomores Alissa Brown, Morgan Thomas (2024 NCWA All-American), and Junior Cathie Timas (2024 NCWA All-American). All three were instrumental last season in establishing a gritty foundation for Head Coach Eric Pack's program—and now they return with eyes set on a breakthrough season.
"These young women have been putting in the work," said Pack. "To be named to the preseason watchlist speaks to their consistency, growth, and dedication. But it's just the beginning."
Climbing the Rankings — But Staying Grounded
Allen was picked 5th in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Rankings, a jump that indicates respect earned—but Coach Pack isn't buying into hype or polls just yet.
"I'm not too concerned with the preseason rankings," Pack emphasized. "Rankings don't reflect the hours in the weight room, the early morning grinds, or the leadership this group has shown. I'm proud of our student-athletes who've been recognized—it's a huge testament to the direction we're moving as a program."
With a program still in its early years of NCAA competition, the recognition marks a significant cultural shift—a sign that Allen is no longer just showing up; they're stepping in to compete.
First Test: Duals vs National Powerhouses
The Yellow Jackets' season opener is no warm-up—it's a baptism by fire. Set to compete at the Upstate Women's Clinic Duals, Allen will face nationally ranked Presbyterian College (No. 5 in the country), as well as strong regional contenders in Newberry and Huntingdon.
It's a daunting lineup—but exactly the kind of stage Coach Pack believes will reveal what this year's squad is made of.
"We need these tests," Pack added. "We want to compete against the best because that's how we get better. This weekend isn't just about results—it's about identity, grit, and growth."
Season Outlook: Built for More
With leaders like Brown, Thomas, and Timas leading the charge, and a team that's stronger, more seasoned, and mentally locked in, Allen Women's Wrestling looks primed to level up.
Catch them on the mat this weekend as they battle some of the nation's best and begin a journey they believe could end with postseason glory.
