ATLANTA, GA — Allen University Cross Country made headlines this week as sophomore sensation Jamea Lindley was officially named SIAC Women's Runner of the Week, following a record-shattering performance at the 2025 Tiger XC 5K Classic hosted by Benedict College.
Lindley, a native of Decatur, Georgia, crossed the finish line in 22:37.87, setting a new Allen University school record for the women's 5K. The standout runner, a transfer from LeMoyne-Owen College, has quickly emerged as a foundational piece in the Yellow Jackets' growing distance program.
Head Coach Orinthal Striggles expressed pride in the sophomore's achievement, stating:
"Jamea is well-deserving. She's one of the most consistent athletes in our program, and I'm extremely proud of her. This type of acknowledgment is what we envision for our student-athletes when they commit to our culture of excellence and hard work."
As the cross country season winding down, Lindley's journey is just getting started. With the indoor and outdoor track and field season on the horizon, Coach Striggles believes Lindley's competitive edge will make her equally dangerous on the track.
"Her work ethic and consistency will make her a threat in multiple events. Expect her to make just as big of an impact this spring."
Stay tuned as Lindley and the Yellow Jackets shift their focus to the SIAC Cross Country Championships as well as track season — where new records may be in sight once again.
