WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- Freshman Jamarri Norman took the top spot in the long jump for the second consecutive meet to highlight four top-10 finishes for the Allen University men's track and field team Sunday at the JDL Flat is Fast Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Norman, a Calhoun Falls, South Carolina native, improved on his distance in Sunday's long jump from his collegiate debut on January 18. Previously, Norman recorded a distance of 6.71m at the Mondo College Invitational. However, on Sunday, he leaped a distance of 7.02m to finish first, once again. In addition to his efforts in the long jump, Norman finished second in the high jump at a height of 2.03m, and fifth in the 60m hurdles preliminaries with a time of 8.63.
Later in the 400m, Ronderius Gray logged a time of 52.69 to finish in sixth place. Finally,
Jhyrique Mangum threw for a distance of 13.99m in the shot put to secure fifth place in a field that features NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II competitors.
The Yellow Jackets return to Columbia for their next meet, the "Carolina Challenge", on Friday, January 31 on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
