MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- On their toughest competition day of the season to date, with four dual matches in a span of three hours, the Allen University women's wrestling team cruised to three victories at the 2024 Trojan Duals hosted by the University of Mount Olive. The Yellow Jackets defeated Greensboro College, 41-9, then Emory & Henry by a score of 36-14, and later Newberry College by thirty points, 38-8. In their final bout of the day, Allen was unable to overcome Mount Olive, a top-3 team in Conference Carolinas, falling 40-8. 

In the first dual against Greensboro, Jillian Lackey gave Allen the early advantage with a win in the 103 weight class. From there, the Yellow Jackets won seven of the next nine matches, including a pinfall victory from Cathia Timas in 1:54 to secure Allen's first dual win of the program's sophomore season. 

Then in the second dual, Morgan Thomas secured a fall win in 2:51 at the 180 weight class to help lead Allen past Emory & Henry, who was tabbed No. 4 in the Conference Carolinas preseason rankings. 

Later in a Palmetto State battle, the Yellow Jackets surged past Newberry College behind seven victories that included the efforts of Lyric Drumgoole with a fall in 1:58 at the 138 weight class, Timas earning a decision win at 160, Janya Rolland's pinfall in 66 seconds, and also Tykala Pruitt, who earned her first collegiate victory with a tech fall win at the 131 weight class.

In their final dual of the day, against the host school UMO, despite Timas and Thomas each earning tech fall victories, the Yellow Jackets were unable to push past the Trojans and suffered their only loss of the day.

Allen will have the remainder of the month off from competition before returning in the new year on January 3 to Mount Olive, North Carolina for a second dual match against UMO beginning at 2:00 p.m. The match to begin 2025 with count towards Allen's Conference Carolinas record, unlike Sunday's match.
