MACON, Ga. - The Allen University women's cross country team finished 12th out of 13 teams at the SIAC Cross Country 5K Championships on Friday morning from Macon, GA. Cross country is the first postseason tournament that Allen has been able to compete in since joining the SIAC Conference during their current transition to NCAA Div. II.
Benedict won the women's meet finishing ahead of Albany St. and Spring Hill. Allen finished ahead of Fort Valley St. and was just a few points behind Lane College for 11th place. Savannah State's Kayla Chance won the 5K in a time of 19:32.
The AU women were led by
sophomore Cori Calloway who finished 37th out of 86 runners in a time of 25:29. Sophomore
Measha Jones then followed Calloway coming in 51st in 27:27.
Sophomore Aisha Patterson then came in third on the team and 75th overall in a time of 34:17 while freshman
Jasmine Mayes came in right behind Patterson in 76th in a time of 34:19.
Sophomore Ayani Taylor then completed the scoring for Allen coming in 77th in 35:10.
Freshman Kiana Pack also competed for Allen running a time of 36:13 in 79th place.
