GAMEDAY CENTRAL:FOOTBALL HOSTS EDWARD WATERS IN AME CLASSIC

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University football team will play its last game of the 2021 season when it hosts Edward Waters in the AME Classic on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Westwood High School in Blythewood, S.C. Kickoff is slated for a 1:00 p.m.

The game will streamed live on ESPN+. 

The last time AU (4-4) faced Edward Waters was during the 2019 season with the Yellow Jackets falling 45-14 to the Tigers. AU has lost the last six meetings after recording its last victory against EWU in 1949, 56-13. 

DYNAMIC DUO
The Yellow Jackets' offense is guided by freshman quarterback David Wright III and freshman wide receiver and Jamal Jones. 

Wright leads the SIAC in passing and total offense and has completed 60.9 percent of his passes (177-of-292). He leads the SIAC in passing yards (2,259 yards), passing yards per game (282.4 ypg), touchdowns (21) with nine interceptions for a pass efficiency average of 143.2 while posting a conference best 329.2 yards per game of total offense.

Jones leads the team in receptions (54), and is at the top of the SIAC in receptions (7.7) and receiving yards per game (110.9) and ranks second among the Yellow Jackets in yards per catch (14.4 avg.). He has recorded seven touchdowns on the season and has finished with more than one hundred yards in the last three contests.. 

#COMEBACKCARDIACJACKETS
The Yellow Jackets picked up both of its wins this season consecutively after pulling off game-winning drives late in the 4th quarter against Johnson C. Smith and Livingstone. AU has edged its opponents 22-18 in the last frame to pick up the monumental victories.

AU administered an 8-play 55-yard drive to defeat JCSU with :55 seconds left, before defeating Livingstone with one second left in the game. In the game against Livingstone, AU connected a 55-yard pass with a lateral for a touchdown, before converting a 2-point conversion to complete the comeback effort.

Kerry Thompson leads the defense with six sacks and two forced fumbles. Gary Bourrage leads AU in tackles (44) and Diquan Brown has recorded 43 tackles (32 solo) and one interception. Julius Pearson and Kylan Pugh each have chipped in two interceptions.
