Allen University Signs Former Nation's No. 1 JUCO Wide Receiver Deion Smith

Ex-LSU and Ole Miss four-star standout brings elite SEC vertical threat to rising SIAC powerhouse for 2026 season

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Allen University Athletics has announced the landmark addition of former LSU wide receiver Deion Smith, a dynamic offensive weapon whose high-profile path through
collegiate football features stops at LSU, Holmes Community College, and Ole Miss. Smith arrives in Columbia as one of the most highly decorated recruiting acquisitions in Yellow Jackets history,
bringing an elite, proven track record of playmaking ability to the program's ascending offense.

Smith originally entered the collegiate ranks as a highly touted four-star prospect out of Jackson Academy in Mississippi, quickly validating the national scouting consensus that ranked him
among the country's premier wide receiver recruits. During his freshman campaign at LSU, he made an immediate impact on the national stage with a breakout performance against Central
Michigan, torching the defense with five receptions for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

Following his freshman season in Baton Rouge, Smith continued his development at Holmes Community College, where he emerged as the most dominant receiver in junior college football.
He led the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with 1,063 receiving yards and topped the association with 12 receiving touchdowns. These explosive numbers earned him
NJCAA All-America honors and solidified his ranking as the consensus No. 1 junior college recruit in the country for the 2024 class before signing with Ole Miss.

Smith's arrival provides Allen with a veteran target possessing an elite combination of size, vertical speed, and catch-radius capability that can alter defensive game plans instantly. His
refined ability to stretch the field, create separation out of breaks, and win contested catches gives the Yellow Jackets a premier weapon as they finalize preparations for the 2026 campaign.

Allen head coach Cedric Pearl expressed immense excitement regarding the dimensions Smith adds to the offensive unit, pointing to the wideout's elite competitive drive, technical skill set, and
readiness to make an immediate impact. Pearl has successfully masterminded a strong, steady rise for Allen within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and Smith's signing
represents a foundational piece for an offense positioned to take the next major step this fall.

The Yellow Jackets enter the season as a program firmly on the rise, coming off a disciplined 6-5 campaign that secured the team's second consecutive winning season since joining the SIAC in
2022. Allen has built significant organizational momentum under Pearl's stewardship, and Allen University Athletics Page 1 of 2 securing a player of Smith's caliber underscores the program's rapidly
growing profile on the national HBCU landscape.
