COLUMBIA, S.C. --- On Thursday, April 9, the Allen University community gathered inside John-Hurst Adams Gymnasium to celebrate academic and athletic recognitions and accomplishments at the annual banquet.
Each year, the AU Athletics Advisory Committee, with recommendations from each athletic program, selects the most outstanding individuals who have distinguished themselves both in their respective sport and in their academic performance, to receive the Student-Athlete of the Year Award. Criteria for the award includes excellence in their respective sport, leadership on the team, and excellence in academic performance and community service.
The 2025-26 Female Student-Athlete of the Year was Isis Severe, a freshman biology major from the Women's Wrestling team. The 2025-26 Male Student-Athlete of the Year was Jhyrique Mangum, a senior business administration major from the Men's Track and Field team.
The two teams with the highest academic achievement were also recognized. The recipients of these awards were men's basketball and softball. The community service and engagement team award was awarded to women's volleyball.
Also each year, the AU Athletics Advisory Committee receives recommendations from each athletic staff member for the most outstanding coach who has distinguished themselves in their respective sport. The 2025-26 Allen University Coach of the Year was Eric Pack from Men's and Women's Wrestling.
