COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Allen University softball team was defeated by Clark Atlanta Friday, falling 17-3 in five innings. The game marked the first of a three-game SIAC series.
With
Alaina Harvey on first base following a hit-by-pitch to begin the bottom of the second inning,
Jada Sanders doubled to right field to set up base runners on the corners. Two at-bats later,
Sarah Henry brought home Harvey on an RBI groundout to score Allen's first run of the game.Â
Later in the third,
Tylar Crawford connected on a one-out single to right field, then
Destiny Breton followed that with an RBI Double to score Crawford. Finally in the fifth, Crawford notched her second hit of the day with a leadoff double to centerfield. Then, Sanders drove an RBI single to left field that plated the third and final run for the Yellow Jackets.
Crawford's multi-hit performance was the second of her freshman season.Â

Allen will conclude the series against CAU tomorrow, Saturday, March 22 with a doubleheader. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., with game two set to begin 30 minutes following the final out of game one.Â
