NEWBERRY, S.C. --- In their final open tournament of the 2025 season, the Allen University men's wrestling program saw four Yellow Jackets combine for 13 victories at Sunday's Newberry Open, hosted on the campus of Newberry College.
In the 149-weight class,
Drevon Wallace earned four wins over competitors from Southeastern and Keiser University. His victories included one by pinfall in 5:40, two by decision of 7-5 and 8-1, and one by injury default after 6:53.
In the 157-weight class,
Quincy Gash started the day with a tech fall win, 19-3, over Newberry's DJ Taylor. Later in the afternoon, Gash added a second victory in a closely-contested battle against Gunther Gerstenacker and won via 8-7 decision.
In the 184-weight class, Jerrel Baskin placed fourth overall after securing five wins Sunday. Among his victories, three came via decision, one by major decision, and one by tech fall.
Finally in the 197-weight class,
Sekou Bangoura began the tournament with a pinfall victory over UNC Pembroke's Chad Metikosh in 4:38. The freshman followed that up with a decision win against Shadow Ridge's Aaron Coverdell, 9-8.
