COLUMBIA, S.C. --- In their final non-conference game of the 2024-2025 season, the Allen University men's basketball team scored a season-high in points behind the performances of thirteen different players as the Yellow Jackets dismantled Carolina Christian College, 97-54.
Allen's offense jumped out to a fast start Thursday night by taking a 19-4 lead through the first seven minutes of the game. The Yellow Jackets maintained their double-digit lead throughout the first half, with the advantage reaching as much as 22 points with 6:11 remaining following a layup from
Ethan Hill. At the break, Allen led by 18 points, 45-27. Through the first 20 minutes of action,
Peyton Weathersby and
Demetri Patterson co-led the Yellow Jackets with eight points each. To start the second half, similar to how they opened the game, Allen found fast offensive success as the Yellow Jackets outscored the Centurions 15-2 over the first four minutes of the half. Allen continued to sink shots and force turnovers defensively to build onto their lead throughout the remainder of the game to take down Carolina Christian in dominant fashion.
Freshman guard
Semaj Brown led Allen's scoring efforts with a career-high 13 points. Also setting a new career-high was
Mark Anthony Huffman who nearly recorded a double-double with 12 points and a team-best nine rebounds. Joining the duo in double-figures was also
Mike Best at 10 points.
Allen returns to their SIAC slate on Saturday, February 15 at Fort Valley State. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. inside HRC Arena.
