COLUMBIA, S.C. --- In a Conference Carolinas clash, the Allen University men's wrestling team defeated Bluefield State Saturday morning, 33-24. 

Xavier Anderson gave the Yellow Jackets their first team points of the match in the 133 weight class with an 8-4 decision win over BSU's Luke Roberts. Derrius Coleman then gave Allen the lead, 9-6, with a forfeit win at 141. Ahead by three, Allen's Drevon Wallace was matched up against BSU's Enrique Sanchez in the 149 weight class. The two met in November, where Sanchez was victorious, however on Saturday, Wallace avenged his prior defeat with a pinfall win in 6:19 to extend the Yellow Jackets' advantage. Since that loss on November 10, Wallace has now won seven of his last eight matches, and Saturday marked the 14th overall victory of the season for the senior. 

Allen added to their lead with forfeited wins at 157, 184, and 197 to secure the victory. 

The Yellow Jackets will be back on the mat on Wednesday, January 29 in Newberry, South Carolina. Allen will compete against two Conference Carolinas foes that afternoon, beginning with Belmont Abbey at 4:00 p.m., followed by Newberry College at 7:00 p.m. The match against Belmont Abbey is a rescheduled match from January 22 that was postponed due to inclement weather.
