Allen Wraps Up Final Day of SIAC East Crossover with Win over LeMoyne-Owen

ALBANY, G.A. --- Allen University volleyball wrapped up the final day of the SIAC East Crossover, held on the campus of Albany State University, by winning one of their two matches Saturday. The Yellow Jackets (3-4, 2-2 SIAC) opened the day with a three-set win over LeMoyne-Owen (25-15, 25-16, 25-23) early Saturday morning, but fell later in the evening to Lane College in three sets (17-25, 20-25, 20-25).

GAME ONE - Allen 3, LeMoyne-Owen 0
Allen held the Lady Magicians to just 24 kills and a .041 hitting percentage in the three-set match. The Yellow Jackets' defensive efforts were led by Taylor Lawrence who recorded a solo block. Sydney Ross, Kaiya Walker, Camile Patterson, and Lawrence each also tallied a block assist in the win. Myra Lopez led Allen with 13 digs. In the attack, Ross reached double-digit kills with 11 kills in 17 swings, followed by Maliyah Spencer with five of her own. After trailing early, 4-2, the Yellow Jackets bounced-back to take a 10-6 lead and never relinquished the advantage.

Both Zyara Harrison and Nakia Reed tallied double-digit assists with 11 each. Reed also joined Lopez and Jaida Jones with double-digit digs as the trio combined for 34 of Allen's 55 digs in the match.
