COLUMBIA, S.C. --- In a cross-town matchup, Allen softball fell in a pair of games Wednesday at Columbia International University (CIU), dropping game one, 8-1, and game two, 11-0 in five innings.
GAME ONE:
The Yellow Jackets plated a run in the fourth inning as
Anjellet Corner reached on a fielding error by a CIU infielder, which also allowed
Destiny Breton to score from third base. Corner, a Ninety Six, S.C. native, has now driven in 15 runs during her 29-game freshman campaign. Along with
Alaina Harvey, Breton also doubled in the contest.
Through six innings of action, pitcher
Naziha Alfred struck out five CIU batters while allowing just three earned runs.
GAME TWO:
In the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader, Allen was unable to bring home a run despite multiple Yellow Jackets' recording multi-hit performances. Both Breton and
Makala Perez each tallied a pair of hits with
Elissa Rich collecting one hit to round out Allen's five hits as a team. Perez reached base a third time via hit by pitch.
UP NEXT:
Allen returns to SIAC play Friday, April 12 for a three-game series at Albany State. The first pitch in Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
