Alfred's Strong Pitching Performance Not Enough for Allen at Converse

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- A strong pitching performance from Naziha Alfred and a multi-hit game from Faith Robinson highlighted Monday's effort for Allen softball, yet the Yellow Jackets were unable to takedown Converse University, falling 4-1 in game one and 6-0 in game two.

GAME 1:
Allen trailed 2-0 in the second inning until Zykhia Crisler drew a bases-loaded walk to score a Yellow Jackets' run and cut the Converse lead in half. However, Converse responded by adding runs in the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead, 4-1. Robinson finished with a multi-hit performance, collecting two hits in three at-bats. In the circle, Alaina Harvey struck out a pair of Converse hitters while allowing just two hits in her four innings of work.

GAME 2:
The Yellow Jackets fell in game two, 6-0. Freshman pitcher Elissa Rich got the start for Allen and tallied four strikeouts through 2.2 innings of action. Then, Naziha Alfred entered the game in relief of Rich and shutdown Converse for the remainder of the contest, finishing with a final line of 3.1 innings pitched, allowing no runs and only one hit with zero walks and two strikeouts.

UP NEXT:
Allen returns to MLK Park for a home doubleheader against Fayetteville State Friday, March 1 with first pitch in game one scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
