COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Senior shortstop
Faith Robinson bashed a pair of home runs Sunday, one in each contest, however, Allen softball fell to Claflin 9-4 in game one, and 16-3 in five innings in game two.
GAME 1:
Although SSU took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, Allen began their comeback effort in the bottom frame as
Faith Robinson singled to score Ta'keviya Sims and the Yellow Jackets' first run of the game. Then in the second inning, after
Jasmine Blaxton scored on an error, Robinson bashed her first grand-slam of the season to give Allen the lead, 6-4. The third inning saw
Michaela Barron drive in a run on an RBI single. Later in the seventh,
Alaina Harvey scored on a groundout RBI from Zinygea Marizette, but it would not be enough as Savannah State won, 10-8.
GAME 2:
Harvey homered for the first time this season in the fourth inning. Then in the fifth, Allen scored their second run of the contest on a double steal as
Zykhia Crisler stole third and
Elissa Rich stole home.
Zariyah Stripling and
Naziha Alfred also collected hits in the effort.
