Talayah Boxley's double-double led the charge for Allen women's basketball Saturday as the Yellow Jackets defeated Clark Atlanta, 66-61.
Despite trailing 22-13 after the first quarter, Allen battled back to draw within five points of the Panthers' lead at the half. The third quarter is where the Yellow Jackets found their stride, scoring 20 points, while also holding CAU to just two made shots on 14 attempts. Later in the fourth, with 2:06 remaining, freshman
Zion Duncan gave Allen a one-point lead on a layup, and the Yellow Jackets would never trail again. Allen closed out the final two minutes on a 6-2 run to secure the victory.
Boxley finished with team-bests 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Mya Johnson added 13 points to go along with nin rebounds, meanwhile seniors
Kash Hankerson and
Tati Morris had 11 points and 4 points, respectivley, in the win.
Allen concludes their regular season Tuesday at Paine College with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
