JACKSON, T.N. --- After playing the full 40 minutes, and totaling a career-best 20 points,
Eboni Clay's efforts along with her Yellow Jacket teammates was not enough as the Allen University women's basketball team dropped a close battle at Lane Monday, 79-70.
After trailing the entire first quarter, and most of the second, Allen climbed their way back in front with 2:44 to play in the first half and took a 32-29 lead on one of Clay's two made three pointers. However, Lane would respond over the final two minutes of the half and take a five-point lead, 37-32, into the locker rooms. The second half saw the Yellow Jackets continue to try and cut into the deficit they faced, but Lane never relinquished their lead and held onto the win.
Clay co-led the Yellow Jackets in scoring, along with
Taliah Wesley, who continued her strong senior season. Wesley finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds, marking her first double-double of the season, and the fifth time in Allen's seven games that she has scored double figures. Allen also saw
Mya Johnson tally 12 points, including going four-for-four at the free-throw line, in Monday's effort.
The Yellow Jackets have nearly a full two weeks off from game action before they return home to John Hurst Adams Gymnasium on Saturday, December 14. Allen will host Spring Hill in an SIAC clash with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
