COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Allen University men's basketball team saw 12 different Yellow Jackets score, including three finishing in double-figures, to help secure their first SIAC win of the season, defeating Spring Hill on Saturday, December 14, 79-75.
The game saw 11 lead changes overall, including with 14 seconds remaining in the first half when
Hunter Johnson made two free throws to give Allen a one-point advantage. Two additional free throws made by
Jordan Edmond built Allen's lead to three points, 40-37, going into the half. After the break, the Yellow Jackets increased their lead to as much as 13 points with 10 minutes remaining. Spring Hill managed to trim the deficit down to two points with less than 10 seconds left, but
Peyton Weathersby made a pair of critical free throws to seal the win for Allen.
Weathersby led the Yellow Jackets by matching his career-high of 19 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the field. Joining Weathersby in double-figures was
Demetri Patterson and
Tavis Bridges, who each totaled 10 points in the win. As a team, Allen shot 50% from the field and recorded 11 second chance points and 11 points off of turnovers.
The Yellow Jackets return to John Hurst Adams Gymnasium on Monday, December 16 to host Miles College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
