ORANGEBURG, S.C. --- The Allen University women's basketball team was defeated at Claflin Tuesday night, 67-47.
The game began on a positive note for the Allen as five different Yellow Jackets scored in the first quarter to help build an early advantage, 19-18, over the Panthers.

Mya Johnson, and Kasey Smith led all Allen scorers after the opening quarter with five points each. The second quarter was where Claflin took control of the game, outscoring Allen by 12 points, to take a 39-27 lead into halftime. The Yellow Jackets were unable to overcome the halftime deficit as Claflin did not relinquish their lead for the remainder of the contest.
Clay finished as Allen's leading scorer with a season-best 15 points for the freshman guard. Johnson was second on the squad with nine points in 14 minutes of action. On the boards, Smith grabbed a team-best six rebounds in Tuesday's effort.
Allen's next stop will be in Memphis, Tennessee as they begin SIAC play at LeMoyne-Owen College on Saturday, November 30. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
