DAHLONEGA, G.A. --- The Allen University women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season Friday evening at North Georgia, 88-68.
After going into halftime trailing by 11 points, 44-33, a difficult third quarter plagued the Yellow Jackets' comeback hopes. Allen was outscored 28-9 during the third quarter as the Yellow Jackets were held to shoot 17% from the floor. The fourth quarter put on display Allen's capabilities as they responded to their struggles from the third quarter with their best period of the night. Across the final 10 minutes, Allen outscored UNG by 10 points, 26-16, and made 10-of-13 shot attempts (76.9%), including three makes from three-point range. However, North Georgia never relinquished their lead and held on for the win.
Freshman guard
Eboni Clay led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 11 points, followed by
Morgan Smith with 10, and both
Kacey Smith and
Taliah Wesley with nine each. Clay also recorded a season-high six assists in Friday's effort.
Allen will look to bounce-back on Tuesday, November 26, when the Yellow Jackets visit Claflin for a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
