COLUMBIA, S.C. --- A 19-5 advantage after the first quarter Thursday night helped lead the Allen University women's basketball team past the University of South Carolina Beaufort, USCB, by a final score of 87-63.
Among the keys to Allen's 25-point victory included making 14-of-15 free throw attempts, with
Taliah Wesley going a perfect 6-for-6 and
Mya Johnson at 4-for-4 to lead the way at the line.
After holding USCB to just five points in the first, the Yellow Jackets saw the Sand Sharks find a better offensive rhythm over the final three quarters, yet, Allen held strong and never trailed Thursday.
Once again, freshman guard
Morgan Smith led the way for Allen with 23 points in 20 minutes of action. Joining Smith in double-figures was
Sadie Williams with 15 points, Wesley at 12 points to pair with a team-best nine rebounds, and
Peighton Jambor with 10 points.
The Yellow Jackets continue their seven-game road swing with a visit to Carolina University on Monday, November 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
