DANVILLE, V.A. --- The Allen University men's wrestling team won 21 matches and saw four Yellow Jackets place at Sunday's Cougar Open, hosted by Averett University. 

Freshman Xavier Anderson placed eighth in the 125 weight class after a performance that included a major decision, 14-3 over Roanoake College's Evan Cox, and a tech fall win against Roanoke's Giulio Fabriziani. 

In the 133 weight class, Nyshaad Hannon won by a major decision over WVU Tech's Blayson Jordan, 13-5. Later in the 141 class, Quantavius Reeves won by forfeit. 

Allen's next placer came in the 149 weight class as senior Drevon Wallace finished fourth with four victories. 

In the 165 weight class, Quincy Gash defeated East Stroudsburg's Josh Montesino by a 8-4 decision. Also at 165, Ya'Donnis Hardaway placed eighth after he defeated East Carolina's Luke Cordier, 17-2, and Liberty's Miguel Betanbourt, 15-0, by tech fall. Hardaway also won by fall voer Marymount's Aleksey Svetlichniy and Roanoak'e David Reid. 

At 184, Jerrel Baskins won by major decision against East Carolina's Bruce Dudley, 15-5. 

Then in the 197 weight class, Christian Poplous earned three consecutive victories by decision, twice, and by a major decision, 17-8. 

Finally in the 285 weight class, Chandler Allen earned a pair of fall wins against Averett's Jasiri Dingle and Shenandoah University's Daniel Basil-Barker. 

The Yellow Jackets return home for their second Conference Carolinas dual match of the season on November 19 at 6:00 p.m. against Emmanuel.
