COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Despite a close battle, the Allen University volleyball team came up short Saturday afternoon to Albany State. The Yellow Jackets (4-7) were defeated in three sets (23-25, 23-25, 19-25).
In the opening set facing a 20-14 deficit, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Golden Rams, 8-5, before the Golden Rams connected on the set-clinching kill. Later in the second set, Allen tied the match at 23-23 before Albany State took a 2-0 advantage in the match. The Golden Rams scored the final five points in the third set to take the match.
Dazzalon Larkins led Allen with nine kills and Zyara Harrison totaled 12 assists in Saturday's effort. Defensively,
Tahmiah Lawson and
Taylor Lawrence each had a pair of solo blocks and
Myra Lopez recorded 16 digs.
Allen is back at home Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m. to host South Carolina State.
