ATLANTA, GA --- In the final game of a six-game stretch away from home, dating back to late November, Allen University Women's Basketball team could not overcome a strong second half from the Clark Atlanta Panthers, as they fell 73-60 Monday.
Following a slow start in the first quarter, Allen responded well in the second, with 16 points while shooting 50% from the floor to enter halftime tied with Clark Atlanta, 26-26. In the third quarter, however, the Panthers outscored their entire first half, as Clark Atlanta added in 29 points, including 13 made free-throws in the quarter. The Yellow Jackets posted an offensively productive third quarter of their own with 21 points, which also included 13 shots from the charity stripe. Clark Atlanta built onto their eight-point lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring Allen by five points to secure the 13-point victory.
Both an offensive and defensive spark for the Yellow Jackets Monday off-the-bench was
Kash Hankerson, finishing with 14 points and five steals. Joining Hankerson in double-figures included
Mya Johnson's 13-point performance and
Taliah Wesley, who tallied 10 points and six rebounds in Monday's effort.
For the first time in 54 days, Allen will return to John Hurst Adams Gymnasium Saturday, January 20th at 2:00 p.m. to take on the Fort Valley State Wildcats. Tickets are available at www.auyellowjackets.com.
