COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Allen University women's soccer team fell 4-1 at home to Shaw University on Saturday afternoon from the SC United Soccer complex.
Junior midfielder
Tonie Sledz opened the scoring for the game for both teams as she took advantage of a free kick off a Shaw foul in the 8th minute to score her 2nd goal of the season for the Yellow Jackets.
Shaw then came right back in the 10th minute of action to tie the game at one before grabbing the lead at 2-1 in the 26th minute. The Lady Bears would add one more goal in the first half in the 41st minute to take a 3-1 edge into the break.
Shaw then added their final goal of the game in the 78th minute of the second half. Sophomore GK
Kaiyah Robinson played the entire first half allowing 3 goals on 6 shots while fellow sophomore keeper
Jaden Keys played the second half and made an impressive 10 saves on 12 shots.
Freshman forward
Tatyana Machado led Allen with 3 shots on goal while Alexia Valasquez also had a shot on goal.
Allen falls to 1-6 on the season while Shaw improves to 7-2 on the year. The Yellow Jackets will next return to action when they head south to Albany, GA to battle Albany State on Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
